The Greene County Law Enforcement Center Entity Board met Wednesday for its annual meeting.

The Board discussed the proposed 2020 fiscal year budget. The main change to the expenditures was using an outside company to service and maintain the LEC’s Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) program, telecommunications and information technology services. ACCESS Systems estimated $28,000 to provide its 24-hour, 7-day per week service with two dedicated technicians to handle issues remotely with quick response times. The Board approved the changes, along with using $6,000 from the current fiscal year’s budget.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams then gave an update on 2018 projects. He said they are waiting to get the air exchanges installed to prevent further mold from the light fixtures in the building and they decided to not replace the exterior door to the main conference room, due to the building’s sinking foundation. They are also waiting to install a new awning for the south entrance of the building, due to the old one being torn off from an April 2018 wind storm.

As for 2019 projects, Williams talked about repairing the building’s foundation. He said when the building was originally built, it was basically put on sand and there are severe issues with the building sinking. Having talked with contractors in the past, Williams said it was difficult to get estimates because contractors weren’t willing to risk possibly cutting into the state system’s fiber cable that runs alongside the building’s foundation. The Board agreed to get cost estimates to fix the foundation.
