The deadline is approaching to submit grant applications to the Greene County Community Foundation.
The deadline is February 14th at 4pm for projects that are $3,000 or less and those that are $3,000 to $35,000. President Tori Riley says they’ve recently lowered their required threshold for non-profits to have matching funds from 50- to 25-percent.
“We realize that there were some organizations that had such a struggle and their funds were so limited that they couldn’t apply to us because they couldn’t come up with the matching funds. So we wanted to make it easier from them to do that but still (have) enough money on hand to demonstrate that this is an important project to them and that they’ve gotten enough support to at least put some money into it.”
Projects that will be considered include those that support families and a solid beginning for children and youth; serve as a catalyst for youth and recreational activities; promote elder care, support services and an active senior population; promote the health, education and vitality of the community; address community needs for police, fire and emergency services; assist in developing quality jobs, tourism and economic development; or help make the community more attractive, livable and cohesive.
Last year the community foundation gave $151,000 to 15 of the 41 requested projects. The shorter form can be emailed to greeneccf@gmail.com and the longer form must be submitted to the Journey Financial office in Home State Bank in Jefferson. The grant ceremony will be on March 25th at 7pm at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson. To access either grant application, click the link below. Forgreenecounty.org.
