The ACGC wrestling team made the jaunt to Emmetsburg Tuesday night for the Class 1A regional duals. Unfortunately the program’s first trip to regionals was a quick one as they fell to the E-Hawks 72-9.

In somewhat ironic fashion, the Chargers’ lone pin fall victory came for 113 pound reserve grappler Dawson Muller. The freshman pinned Ryerson Boevers at 3:45. The other three points for the gold and black came at 120 pounds as senior Blaine Beeler bested Kelly Griffin by a 3-2 decision. Emmetsburg grabbed victories in the other dozen weight classes, with half coming by forfeit and the other half coming by pin. District qualifiers Gunnar Larsen, Easton Benson, and Gabe Rowley all sat out of the competition as they rest up for Saturday’s state qualifiers in Truro.

The Chargers finish their dual season with a record of 16-9. The Class 1A District 2 tournament begins at noon on Saturday at Interstate-35 High School in Truro. The top two grapplers from each weight class will advance to state in Des Moines.
