The Guthrie Center City Council met for a special session Monday night.
The Council scheduled a public hearing on February 25th for a cooperation agreement and proposed tax levy for the Guthrie County Regional Airport Authority. The Council will also have a first reading on this ordinance on February 25th, and the first reading they had for the proposed levy on January 28th is considered null and void after discussion with the Authority’s lawyer. This special meeting followed the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors decision last week to set a public hearing on February 26th for a resolution on cooperation and funding agreements for the Authority. The cooperation agreement would replace the original agreement made in 1989 that established the Authority with the cities of Guthrie Center, Panora, and Yale, who has recently opted out. The new levy agreement would fund the 10% of local funds needed for a $3.8 million runway replacement project.
