Twenty-one months after the death of 16-year-old Sabrina Ray of Perry, the final guilty party was sentenced to prison for the part they played in her death.

Friday afternoon, 22-year-old Josie Bousman, the adoptive cousin of Sabrina, pleaded guilty to three charges for the role she played in the May 12, 2017 death of the teen in Perry, and was sentenced to up to 14 years in prison. Her charges were amended per a plea agreement with the State of Iowa, resulting in convictions for neglect of a dependent person, a class C felony, and two counts of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. Bousman was originally charged with five counts, the most serious being a class A felony for aiding and abetting first degree kidnapping. She was sentenced to the maximum prison sentence allowed, though she was given credit for the 21 months already served at the Dallas County Jail.

Bousman was credited by the prosecution for her cooperation with the investigation of the case, as well as her willingness to testify against the other four defendants. She never had to give testimony, however, as none of the other suspects took their case to trial. Bousman’s guilty plea and sentencing at long last brings an end to the story of Sabrina Ray’s death. Marc and Misty Ray were sentenced to 80 years and life in prison, respectively, while their son Justin Ray was sentenced to 10 years, and Misty’s mother Carla Bousman was sentenced to 20 years.
