Perry senior Kaleb Olejniczak has had the type of season wrestling athletes hope for. The talented 138 pounder is currently ranked second in the state after posting a 39-1 regular season record. His only loss this season came to an out of state wrestler in a weekend tournament. Last year’s state runner up is also on pace to leave Perry as the program’s all time winning wrestler. The Dan Gable Wrestler of the year nominee has accumulated 172 career wins throughout his four seasons. Four time state qualifier Zach Thompson is the wins leader at Perry with 174. Olejniczak will have a chance to tie the mark this Saturday when Perry opens up postseason competition with a 2A sectional in Webster City. Perry will compete against Nevada, Gilbert, Roland Story and West Marshall. Each weight class will send the winner and runner up to the district tournament the following weekend. Olejniczak will wrestle for UNI next fall.
