Greene County’s last varsity home basketball games this season are tomorrow night in the middle school gym in Jefferson. Saydel (Des Moines) provides the opposition for the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy twin bill. Coverage on KG98 starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
The only win for the Saydel girls was on Jan. 4 in Des Moines against Greene County by a 35-22 final. The Rams are still looking for a victory under the direction of first year head coach Tyler Westhoff.
The Greene County boys were missing two starters on Jan. 4 in Des Moines in the first meeting between the teams, but still managed a 79-74 overtime victory over the Eagles, who have three wins this season, but none in conference play. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are 6-12 overall and 3-8 in the conference.
Friday night is also Senior Night. The Greene County girls have no seniors on the squad and the only senior boy is 1,000 point scorer Trey Hinote.
