The high school girls’ basketball regular season has less than a week left in it for the Greene County Rams. First year head coach Tyler Westhoff is still looking for career victory number one as his team is 0-17 on the season and 0-11 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play.

The Rams have four regular season games remaining, but just one at home in the middle school gym in Jefferson, and that lone home game appears to be the best opportunity to pick up the elusive first win. The Saydel Eagles visit the Rams this Friday night. Saydel’s only victory in 17 games is against the Rams by a 35-22 final in Des Moines on Jan. 4. Greene County visits 9-6 Carroll High on Saturday, then goes to Class 3A number 11 Roland-Story in Story City on Feb. 4 for a make up game, before closing the regular season in Alleman vs. 3A’s number one ranked team, the North Polk Comets. Carroll is the opening round postseason opponent for the Rams on Feb. 9 in Carroll.

Friday’s action can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage starts at 5:45 p.m. with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow.
