Another conference postponement has the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity basketball teams turning their focus to another league foe. Officials at ADM and Carroll Community Schools agreed to push back Tuesday’s Raccoon River Conference doubleheader in Carroll to Monday, February 4 because of abnormally cold weather in the region. The delay shifts the attention of ADM basketball teams to Friday’s league twin bill in Adel against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. The two schools had their initial conference contests played in Polk County on January 4 with ADM and Bondurant-Farrar winning one varsity game each.

A shorthanded ADM girls basketball team suffered their first conference loss of the season against Bondurant-Farrar in early January, 68-56. Bondurant-Farrar sophomore Avery Fried and ADM junior Delaney Bertman both scored 24 points in the contest. Seniors Kristen Baier and Anna Kenny were both healthy scratches for the Tigers against the Bluejays with both athletes taking part in a church camp out of state.

A lopsided fourth quarter turned the boys’ contest between ADM and Bondurant-Farrar into a seesaw affair in the final moments. After entering the fourth quarter with a nine-point lead, ADM held on a 54-53 win. The teams traded the lead four separate times in the game’s final two minutes. Junior Jaxson Milsap scored his only basket with seven seconds remaining to give ADM the lead for good. Bondurant-Farrar’s Jalen Kruse drove into the lane the ensuing possession and had his game-winning floater miss off the back iron as time expired. Forty-two of ADM’s 54 points scored were by the guard combo of senior Koby Hardcastle and sophomore Nate Mueller.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will bring you live play by play coverage of ADM Basketball versus Bondurant-Farrar this Friday on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app. The varsity girls game tips off at 6 p.m., and the boys’ contest will follow from ADM North Gym in Adel.
