The Guthrie County Cattlemen’s Association held their annual banquet this past weekend, to celebrate the group’s involvement in the community and the beef industry.
The 2018 Beef Queen Paige Caltrider and Princess Chelsea Larson gave a review of their year-long activities. The Association then crowned Molly Simmons as the 2019 queen and Lindsey Van Gundy as princess, both of which are from Yale. Association President Cale Kastner says this year’s banquet had a good turnout of about 200 people. He comments on the aspect of the Cattlemen’s Association’s continuous support of the Guthrie County Fair and its participants, “That’s my favorite part of it, I enjoy the kids, I enjoy helping whether it be beef weigh-in or helping at the county fair with weigh-in or the show day. Watching the kids grow, I mean, I’ve seen these kids, queens, princesses, and just regular 4-H members grow throughout the years and they get better and that’s just something I really enjoy doing, it’s my favorite part.”
The annual banquet also included the annual trophy auction which raised $18,800, door prizes, and music performed by Erik Abraham. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Guthrie County Cattlemen’s Association, you can call Membership Director Darren Crowley at 641-757-0957.
