The first batch of regional girls basketball brackets became public late Thursday afternoon, and the West Central Valley Wildcats are in a West Central Activities Conference heavy section. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union put eight WCAC members in the Class 2A Region 7 bracket including West Central Valley. The Wildcats opening round contest takes place Saturday, February 9 against the Earlham Cardinals in Earlham. The two conference foes haven’t met in the regular season yet with their lone game scheduled for Friday, February 1 in Earlham. The winner of the regional opener advances to face the Van Meter Bulldogs on Tuesday, February 12 in Van Meter.

The Panorama Panthers are the top seed of the bracket, awaiting a quarterfinal matchup against the winner of Madrid and Woodward-Granger on February 12. The AC/GC Chargers and the Ogden Bulldogs round out the members of the West Central Activities Conference a part of the bracket. The regional semifinal round takes place Friday, February 15 in Adel and Huxley respectively. The championship game at either Johnston or Waukee High School is slated for Monday, February 18. Weather permitting, the West Central Valley Wildcats varsity girls basketball team hosts the Des Moines Christian Lions in another West Central Activities Conference contest beginning at 6 p.m. tonight in Stuart.
