The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met for a budget session Thursday.

The meeting began with the Board approving a fiscal year 2020 budget request of $30,088 for Midwest Partnership Economic Development Corporation and $5,039 to Western Iowa Advantage. Next, the Board discussed the 2020 budget request from County Recorder Tristen Richard in which she suggested hiring a second part-time employee. The Board also received a Secondary Roads Department update from County Engineer Josh Sebern, and he also gave his budget request. The Board authorized Sebern to gather quotes to purchase two tandem plow trucks. Sebern mentioned the department ended fiscal year 2018 with $2,608,685 in reserve. He says he plans to reduce this amount over the next period of years to get near $1.2 million, per the state auditor’s recommendation. Finally, the Board discussed the fiscal year 2020 budget for the Guthrie County Conservation Board, Historical Village, Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP), and the Conservation reserve fund with Conservation Director Joe Hanner.
