acgcDue to the frigid temperatures this week, the ACGC basketball teams got an extra day of rest before their next regular season doubleheader. Barring any additional thermometer setbacks, the gold and black will make the short trip to Anita tonight to contend with the CAM Cougars in a non-conference doubleheader.

The girls matchup will feature Class 1A’s #6 ranked Cougars. The Cougars have just one blemish on the season, falling to the AR-WE-VA Rockets in December, 47-57. This also happens to be the only occasion the Cougars have failed to score more than 50 points in a game this season. Senior Madison Gettler is averaging nearly 20 points per game to lead the squad.

The CAM boys team suffered six defeats in eight games in 2018. Since the start of the new year, the Cougars are 3-2. Junior Jacob Holste leads the Cougars with nearly a dozen points per game and has a third of the team’s 90 three-pointers.

Yesterday the ACGC girls team learned their postseason path will go through Corning as they drew a rematch in the regional playoffs with the Southwest Valley Timberwolves. The girls team is coming off a victory over the Timberwolves which saw a career high twelve point performance from sophomore point guard, Jorja Hoover. Freshman Chloe Largent also produced a near double-double with eleven points at eight rebounds.

The ACGC boys are also coming off a dominating performance against the Timberwolves which saw eight players score at least six points. You can hear the doubleheader live on KKRF2 and RaccoonValleyRadio.com. Pregame kicks off around 5:45pm with tipoff set for 6 from Anita.
