Monday night saw the West Central Valley varsity girls’ basketball team drop another competitive game inside the West Central Activities Conference. The Madrid Tigers hosted the Wildcats in their final regular-season meeting this winter. West Central Valley couldn’t capitalize on a first-quarter lead, falling 49-42 to the Tigers. The Wildcats held a 9-6 advantage after the initial eight minutes. Madrid won the next three quarters, outscoring West Central Valley by seven in the second quarter, two in the third, and a single point in the fourth. Three Wildcats finished with double-figure scoring outputs led by junior Syndey Neal’s 13. Freshman Madelyn Jaeger added 12 points while junior Michaela Jaeger chipped in 11. The loss drops West Central Valley’s overall record to 4-11 and their conference mark to 1-10. Seven of their 10 league losses are by seven points or less. The Wildcats varsity basketball teams head to Anita tonight for a nonconference twin bill against the CAM Cougars. The varsity girls game starts at 6 p.m., and the boys’ contest will follow from CAM High School.
