A third Republican recently announced his candidacy for the 2020 primary race for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District.
Sources say Jeremy Taylor said he is opening a campaign committee for his candidacy. He is currently the vice-chair of the Woodbury County Supervisors, and is serving his second term. He previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives before becoming a county supervisor. He is an Iowa National Guard veteran, having served in the 1-194 Field Artillery Battalion as a captain and chaplain. He is married with five kids.
Taylor joins two other Republican candidates looking to unseat the nine-term incumbent Congressman Steve King. Iowa Senator Randy Feenstra and former businessman Bret Richards are also seeking the Republican nomination.
King narrowly defeated his Democrat challenger J.D. Scholten in the November general election by three percentage points.
