The District Large Group Speech Contest has once again been postponed due to weather, so Perry High School is now set to host the event this Saturday.
The competition was initially scheduled for Saturday, January 19th, but an excess of recent severe winter weather has pushed it back a week. There will be 21 schools sending students to Perry for the event, including each of the schools in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area. The Perry Speech Team will have 10 entries in the contest, while Adel-DeSoto-Minburn is sending 19 entries to perform. The events will be held throughout the day at 10 different centers, with the first performances starting at 8 a.m.
Any group who receives a “I” rating at districts Saturday will advance to the State Contest, which will be held the following week on February 2nd at West Des Moines – Valley High School.
