Even though we’re in the middle of winter, it’s never too early to start thinking about the upcoming storm season. With that in mind, the National Weather Service is once again offering storm spotter training throughout the State of Iowa.
New Dallas County Emergency Management Coordinator A.J. Seely will host a program, and he encourages people interested in helping out this storm season to attend. The class will cover topics such as: recognizing different storm cloud formations; telling the difference between real tornadoes and false ones; and ways you can report what you see to the National Weather Service. No prior experience with storm spotting is required, but those who attend will be able to get involved with emergency management for the next year.
There is no cost to attend storm spotter training, and no registration is required. The Dallas County session will be held on April 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Human Services Campus north of Adel. The classes typically last between 90-minutes and two-hours. For more information, contact Seely at 515-993-2134.
