The current homestand of the Panorama Panther varsity basketball team continues tonight. The Nodaway Valley Wolverines will make the drive from Greenfield to Panora tonight to face the Panthers in a nonconference doubleheader. A snowstorm on January 12 postponed the original date to today.

The Panorama Panthers girls basketball team (13-1 overall; 10-1 WCAC), Class 2A’s No. 8 squad, have bounced back nicely from their first loss of the season on January 11 at Des Moines Christian. The Panthers have won both games by more than 40 point margins, topping the Madrid Tigers (69-21) and the ACGC Chargers (68-27) last week. The Nodaway Valley Wolverines are in the midst of back-to-back losses for the first time this winter, posting a 9-5 overall record. The Wolverines latest setback came Thursday in Leon against Central Decatur, 68-43.

The Panorama Panthers boys basketball team (6-8 overall; 5-7 WCAC) snapped a three-game losing streak Thursday night with a 60-47 triumph over the AC/GC Chargers. The Panthers are a couple of bounces away from flipping their record with four of their eight losses coming by five points or less. The Nodaway Valley Wolverines are playing great basketball since the start of 2019. The Wolverines have won seven games in a row including the first six of the new year, bringing an 11-2 overall record to Panora.

Today is the third of potentially five straight games for Panorama basketball at home. Weather permitting, Panorama will also host Earlham (Friday, January 25), and Greene County (Monday, January 28) before their next road contest on Tuesday, January 29 at Ogden. Tonight’s varsity doubleheader between Panorama and Nodaway Valley starts around 6 p.m. with the girls’ contest, and the boys game will follow from Panorama High School in Panora.
