Women of all ages are welcome to join the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for a three-day outdoor workshop this February.

This Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman, or Beyond BOW Workshop, will be headquartered at Springbrook State Park in Guthrie County with evening sessions and overnight lodging at Firefly Creek Ranch in Guthrie Center. No prior experience is necessary to take part in activities such as ice fishing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, yoga, essential oils, nature photography, and more.

DNR Training Specialist Anne Riordan shares why she’s excited for this workshop, “Part of the Becoming an Outdoors Woman thing is that many of these things have traditionally been more thought of as male activities and they definitely don’t need to be so when we have an atmosphere of learning and especially when a lot of the things are taught by women it just is a really comfortable way to go out and try something you’ve never tried before along with a whole bunch of people who maybe haven’t tried it before so it’s just one more way to make it accessible and make it welcoming to everybody.”

Beyond BOW will take place February 8th-10th and is open to anyone 18 years and older regardless of gender. You can register here.
