The West Central Valley School Board met in regular session Wednesday.

The meeting began with a presentation from Middle School and Dexter Elementary Counselor Hanna Sanders about the new food pantry located at the middle school made possible in part by the Food Bank of Iowa. Next, the Board voted unanimously to change the Stuart and Dexter elementary buildings from each housing kindergarten-fifth grade to being grade-alike attendance centers. Starting next fall, the Stuart building will house special education and kindergarten through second grades, and the Dexter building will house special education and third-fifth grades.

The Board also approved a sharing agreement for Business Manager Symantha Crawford with the Panorama School District. This contract will be in effect until June 30th, by which time the two districts will determine whether to create an open-ended contract as Superintendent Lance Ridgely said Panorama Superintendent Shawn Holloway hopes this will be a permanent solution. The Board then approved an addendum to Crawford’s contract for her increased compensation, and approved the maximum modified allowable growth of $150,824 for at-risk/dropout prevention for the 2019-2020 school year. Finally, the Board took no action on bids for a north fenceline project, awarded the bid to Egan Supply Co. for refinishing of the gym and stage floor at the middle school, and concluded with a closed session.
