As several inches of snow is predicted this weekend, Guthrie County communities urge residents to follow their snow ordinance.

When snow accumulation is visible in the City of Stuart and snow removal operations are in progress, residents are not to park their vehicle on a public street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking area. The Stuart Police Department will enforce City code with parking tickets or towing when necessary.

For the City of Guthrie Center, vehicles are to be removed from any residential street, alley, or City-owned off-street parking when there’s at least two-inches of snow accumulation. Vehicles in violation may be towed, fined or both. Property owners are advised to remove snow and ice from their sidewalks, and those that don’t may be assessed for the cost of City removal.

The City of Panora enforces that vehicles are not permitted to be parked on public streets, alleys, or City-owned off streets for 48 hours after a snow event. Parking is allowed on the west side of North 1st Street between Main and Market streets any time during snowfall.

Panora and Stuart residents are also reminded it is unlawful to dump ice or snow onto sidewalks or streets.
