With a great deal of snow still on the ground from this past weekend’s winter event and more likely this weekend, the Perry Police Department emphasizes the importance of following the City’s snow ordinance.
On Monday, the police department had four vehicles towed, which were impeding the process of snow removal. In preparation of even more snow expected in the coming days, Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler emphasizes following the snow ordinance to prevent headaches for yourself, the officers, and the ones plowing the streets.
The Perry snow ordinance states that when there is a half-inch of accumulation or more, vehicles cannot be parked on any City street, alley, or public parking lot. Additionally, the streets must remain clear until the snowfall has ceased and the plows have been through. A good rule of thumb is to wait a full 24 hours after the snow has been cleared before parking on the streets, just to make sure. Anyone in violation of the ordinance will be issued a citation, with the possibility of the vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense.
