Two Greene County youth are advancing onto the State Elks Hoop Shoot Contest.
Ashlynn Ball won the 8-9-year-old girls division and Brynley Ruzicka won the 12-13-year-old boys division at the Northwest District competition this past weekend to advance onto the state contest next month. Not only will Greene County send two youth, but this is also Ruzicka’s third straight appearance at state. He made 24 of 25 free-throws at this past Saturday’s contest in Storm Lake to qualify. Each competitor had to win their respective age and gender division to advance to the next level of competition.
Greene County also had three other competitors participate, but they didn’t qualify for the state contest. Kading Winters was second in the 8-9-year-old boys division, Lincoln Schwander was third in the 10-11-year-old boys division and Adison Gallagher was third in the 12-13-year-old girls division. The state contest is on February 9th at Grinnell College.
