With a new year underway, everyone is encouraged to prevent life-threatening illness by making healthy choices.
Kim Durst with the American Cancer Society explains why they want to stress the importance of eating healthy and being physically active, “Research shows that poor diet and physical inactivity are two key factors that can increase your cancer risk and that is one thing that the American Cancer Society really wants to focus on is prevention. And you know the good news is that you can do something about this, you can take action and help reduce your risk of cancer.”
Durst says these healthy choices include staying away from tobacco, being safe in the sun by protecting yourself from skin cancer, and scheduling screenings for cancers that are most prevalent for men and women. For more information on how to stay healthy visit here.
