Two suspects charged in Dallas County in the past year were recently found guilty and sentenced.
According to court documents, 19-year-old Chase Brian Knowles of Redfield and 30-year-old Michael Scott Schmitz of Perry were both sentenced to probation in December for unrelated incidents. Knowles was arrested on a class D felony eluding charge following a motorcycle chase on Highway 6 through Adel on July 10, 2018. He was also charged with an aggravated misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, first offense. He reached a plea agreement with the State and received four years of probation from District 5 Judge Brad McCall. He will also be forced to pay $860 in civil penalties.
Schmitz was arrested on October 10th after an altercation with police on Highway 144 north of Perry. He was charged with disarming a peace officer, a class D felony, as well as two counts of assault on a peace officer, an aggravated misdemeanor. Per his plea agreement, Schmitz had the felony charge dropped and was found guilty of the two misdemeanors. He was sentenced by McCall to two years of probation to serve consecutively and $220 in fees.
