The Winterset basketball teams rolled to a pair of non-conference high school basketball wins in Jefferson on Monday night over the Greene County teams. The Huskies won 55-20 in the girls’ game, followed by a boys’ final of 85-53. Both games were broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyreadio.com.
Madison Wautters, a 6′ 3″ senior, led the Winterset girls with 21 points, 18 in the first half. Izzy Bravard had eight points and Bailey Cunningham added six for the Rams, now 0-12. The Huskies improved to 6-6.
Easton Darling scored 29 points and Casey Kleemeier added 20 for the Winteset boys. The Huskies led 29-27 midway through the second quarter, then ended the half on a 13-0 run and were up 53-37 at intermission. The Huskies improved to 6-4 and scored 28 points in the third quarter and built the lead to as many as 36 points. The Rams have lost five of their last six games and stand at 5-8 on the season. Trey Hinote scored 19 points with Nick Breon adding a career-best 15.
