Perry High School

This Saturday, 21 schools from around the area, including each in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, will head to Perry High School to participate in the 2019 District Large Group Speech Competition.

Perry was chosen as one of 16 schools across the state to host district speech contest this year, and Speech Coach Wendy Bollhoefer says she and her team are excited and ready to welcome the other schools. “The Perry students are really good about hosting, because most of them are in band and we host Band Olympics. So they’re really trained by the band as to what they need to do. And we’ve just been preparing, like getting things organized, the schedule is done, and so we just have you know little things left to do in order to get ready. But it’s going to be a really good day, and hosting contest is a great fundraiser for our program.”

Bollhoefer says there is a $3 suggested donation for the public to attend speech contest. All proceeds from the entry fees as well as concession sales will go directly to the Perry High School Speech Team. The earliest events start at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, with performances spread throughout 10 centers the rest of the day. To see a full schedule of events for Saturday, click the link below.
