Friday’s 48-43 victory for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn varsity girls basketball team against Boone showed the Tigers could win despite an off night from their two leading scorers. Sophomore Grace Hardcastle poured in a team-best 15 points. Senior Emma Jacobsen added 12 points, and senior Kristen Baier chipped in eight to help ADM secure their 10th victory of the winter. Juniors Abbie Hlas and Delaney Bertman, who averaged over 26 points scored per game entering Friday’s contest, were held to 13 points total against the Toreadors. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM girls basketball coach Jacob Cleveland about Friday’s scoring output, and he seemed pleased to see other players emerge as leaders in the column. “This is what we needed,” Cleveland said, “Grace Hardcastle is someone that I probably put a lot of pressure on her because I knew her before (this season). I got to continue to remind myself that she’s a sophomore and she’s still getting her feet wet as far as how varsity basketball looks like. She came to play tonight.”
The Tigers are back in Adel tonight for a nonconference varsity doubleheader against rival Dallas Center-Grimes. The Fillies topped the Tigers last season in Grimes, 51-26. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play by play coverage of ADM and Dallas Center-Grimes basketball tonight on True Country K 107.9 starting with pregame comments around 5:30 p.m., the girls game tipping off at 6 p.m. and the boys contest to follow.
