The ACGC wrestling team collected two more dual victories Saturday at the Kuemper Catholic Duals.
Following an opening round defeat at the hands of Storm Lake, 33-43, the Chargers defeated Audubon, 45-24. Of the 45 points, 42 came by forfeit. The other three points came off a 5-3 decision win by freshman Gavin Cornelison at 170 pounds. The other victory for the gold and black came over the Johnston JV squad by a 54-24 margin. The Chargers recorded six pin falls and two victories by forfeit over the Dragons.
The other two losses on the day came against Missouri Valley (31-48) and the host Knights (35-36). The bout against Kuemper was initially tied at 36, but one point was deducted from ACGC’s final total for an unsportsmanlike conduct ruling. The duals served as a return to the mats for senior Easton Benson. Benson went 4-1 in his return from a shoulder injury at the West Central Activities Conference duals in Ogden last month.
The Chargers’ dual record now sits at 15-6. Their final dual competition of the year will be on Tuesday in a quadrangular at Woodward-Granger. In addition to the Hawks and Chargers, Baxter and South Central Calhoun will also participate. Those duals begin around 5:30pm from Woodward-Granger High School in Woodward.
