The renewal of one of the West Central Activities Conference most competitive girls basketball rivalries comes tonight in Urbandale. The Panorama Panthers, Class 2A’s No. 6 ranked squad, pays a visit to Class 3A No. 6 Des Moines Christian this evening. The last time these teams met was in last February’s Class 2A regional championship game in Granger. Panorama escaped a game-tying three-point attempt from Lion sophomore Moriah Prewitt for a 36-33 victory, qualifying the Panthers for the 2018 Class 2A State Tournament, 36-33. Panorama girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga shared with Raccoon Valley Radio earlier this week that Des Moines Christian’s height is what jumps off the page to him on film. “Des Moines Christian is a good team, they’re ranked in (Class 3A), and they have so much height,” Druivenga said, ” (They) are probably the tallest team we play all year,”

The Lions roster on quikstatsiowa.com lists five players standing 5’10 or taller with senior Kaili Lawson measuring 6’1. Panorama is undefeated in their first 11 games this winter, while Des Moines Christian has won the last nine games after starting the season with back-to-back losses. Tonight’s West Central Activites Conference varisty doubleheader between Panorama and Des Moines Christian begins with the girls contest around 6 p.m. and the boys game to follow from Des Moines Christian High School in Urbandale.
