The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with the approval of the insurance renewal for the County through the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP), which will cost $348,904.10 for the current year. After that, the Board got the latest update on the progress of the new law enforcement center. Representatives from the Samuels Group and Design Alliance said the project is still well under budget, but the unseasonable weather they’ve experienced this winter has led to many delays in construction. The Board then approved the 11th pay application, which included payments made to nine contractors for a total of $1,191,556.10.
Next, the Supervisors approved setting the time and date for receiving bids for two upcoming projects through the Secondary Roads Department. The first is for debris removal through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the second is for a box culvert project on U Avenue. The bids will be received and opened on January 31st, with the projects awarded on February 5th. Finally, the Board approved resolutions to officially appoint Assistant County Attorneys and the Deputy Recorder, as well as an economic development assistance contract with Tyson Fresh Meats in Perry.
The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss pending litigation.
