The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.
At the beginning of the meeting, Council member Dr. Randy McCaulley presented the annual Rotary Club Civil Service award to Dr. Clint Lutterman. The Rehabilitation Director was recognized for his service offered to the Perry School District through 21st Century Rehab. During open forum, Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks and Perry School Board member Linda Andorf gave a presentation on the proposed bond referendum for the new industrial technology facility and wrestling/multipurpose room. Additionally, Hotel Pattee General Manager Aaron Lenz briefly discussed the hotel’s Owner Tom Maxwell’s recent purchase of La Poste.
In old business, the Council approved entering into a loan agreement for $2.3 million in general obligation airport improvement bonds. The low bidder was SWBC Investment Services, which offered a 2.82% interest rate on the loan. The money will help pay for the runway extension and new hangar at the Perry Municipal Airport. After that, the Council approved the final pay request to Central States Roofing for their work on phase two of the McCreary Community Building roof replacement. The payment was for $5,718.13, and covered the withheld retainage for the project. Finally, in new business the Council approved the appointment of Deputy Public Works Director Josh Wuebker as the City’s representative to the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance (CIRPTA). They also reappointed City Administrator Sven Peterson and City Engineer Matt Ferrier as alternates.
