Dallas Supervisors 11-20

For several months, the Dallas County Board of Supervisors has been in discussions regarding the purchase of a building, and at the recent meeting that purchase became official.

The building located at 910 Court Street in Adel, which is adjacent to the Administrative Offices at 902 Court, had once housed the Auditor’s Elections Office. However, when the Auditor’s Office consolidated the election and real estate departments into its current facility, the old building sat vacant. Eventually, everything held at the new Elections Office began to outgrow the new facility as well, which led to the County inquiring about buying the building they used to lease. Through the negotiations, the sellers and the County agreed to a purchase price that lined up with the appraised value of the facility: $140,000.

The Board approved the purchase, and the Auditor’s Office will immediately begin moving in their election equipment for storage. Dallas County Auditor Julia Helm emphasized that while various equipment will be stored at 910 Court Street, there will be no voting or tabulation conducted in the facility because it lacks the proper security.
