The Panorama School District recently partnered with several charitable organizations for their annual Day of Service.
On the Day of Service held December 21st, students in grades 6-12 worked with an organization called Many Hands for Haiti, which makes diapers to send for children in need in Haiti. The students sewed diapers in their family consumer science class. Panorama Schools also partnered with Des Moines-based organization Joppa to make sleep mats out of plastic shopping bags for homeless people. They also prepared snack bags and mini loaves of bread to distribute at Joppa’s homeless event in Des Moines that night. The final station made fleece tie blankets for 3C’s in Panora and Blank Children’s Hospital. School Community Liaison Angie Clouser thanks the Panora Lions Club, community members, and others who helped collect over 17,000 bags for the sleep mats; as well as Panora Telco, Panora Specialty Care, Panora State Bank, Farm Credit Services of Perry, and the Panorama FFA for their help with the snack bag project.
