acgcThe ACGC girls basketball team will kick off their 2019 schedule against the Woodward-Granger Hawks tomorrow night in a West Central Activities Conference matchup. The Chargers come into the year at 6-4 while the Hawks will enter at 3-7.

The Hawks fell in six of their first seven contests, but got a little rhythm going into the holiday break winning two of their last three. Freshman Emma Anderson leads the team in scoring and steals with nearly 12 points and three thefts per game. Anderson is tied for fourth in the conference in total scoring with 119 points. Junior Katelyn Scharlau leads the squad in rebounds with 72 in the first ten games. The Hawks are 2-0 when scoring 40 points or more and 1-7 when failing to reach that threshold.

ACGC also entered the holiday break on a bit of a roll. The Chargers won back-to-back games in the final week of the season after dropping four of the previous five. Senior Jadeyn Carrick, who averaged 13 points in the season split last year against the Hawks, needs just nine to cross the 300 point mark for her career. A pair of Chargers are also in the top five in statistical categories for the conference. Junior Kennedy Young is 5th in the WCAC with 64 total rebounds and sophomore Jorja Hoover is 2nd in assists with 41, one shy of conference leader Joelle Grubbs of West Central Valley.
