The ACGC grapplers are anxious to get back onto the mats after the holiday hiatus. Their break will soon come to an end as they begin their 2019 schedule in Griswold for a non-conference quadrangular tomorrow night.
The teams featured include the Chargers, host Tigers, Exira-EHK, and AHSTW. This will be an early introduction for a Charger squad that will see both the Spartans and Vikings in ACGC’s home sectional on February 2nd. The Chargers will enter this quadrangular at 8-2 overall, just four wins from equaling their total from last season.
While the Chargers, Tigers, and Spartans have no ranked wrestlers entering the new year, there will be a pair of ranked grapplers from AHSTW. Viking senior Gabe Pauley is the #1 ranked wrestler in both IAwrestle and The Predicament for the 182 pound weight class. Junior Brady Canada is in the top ten in both publications for heavyweights.
ACGC senior Easton Benson, who suffered a dislocated shoulder during the West Central Activities Conference invitational in Ogden, will be sidelined at least another week or two. The quadrangular begins at around 5:30pm tomorrow from Griswold High School.
Following tomorrow’s quadrangular, the Chargers will compete in the Coon Rapids-Bayard invitational on Saturday. Other participating schools include: Audubon, East Sac County, Exira-EHK, Panorama, Riverside, Saydel, South Central Calhoun, and West Central Valley.
