The Greene County Board of Supervisors convened in regular session Thursday.
The meeting began with a report from Sheriff Jack Williams and Supervisor Chair John Muir. They said they hope to hire someone to work from the Sheriff’s Office by December 31st to help transition ambulance services from Greene County EMS owned by Dennis and Marcia Morlan to a county-run operation. Muir also recognized retiring Treasurer Donna Lawson and County Attorney Nic Martino for their 32 and 42 years of service to the County, respectively.
No action was taken on a funding increase request for fiscal year 2020 from the Region XII Council of Governments. Chad Jensen of New Opportunities then provided an update to the Board and he requested no changes in the County’s funding, and no action was taken. Also, no action was taken on a request to continue funding $5,000 to the Greene County Early Learning Center. Next, the Board accepted the Treasurer’s Investment and Driver’s License Report for November, and approved the 2017 property tax abatements. Finally, no action was taken on a fiscal year 2020 funding request of $1,200 from Mike Piepel with no increase to continue his support of three County residents as an indigent caretaker.
