The high school winter sports season in Iowa won’t resume until after January 2, but that isn’t stopping area basketball teams from sharpening up their skills over the holiday break. The West Central Valley Wildcats boys basketball team returns to the gym this morning for an open gym shoot around and tomorrow the Wildcats travel to Saydel High School for an exhibition scrimmage against the Eagles at 10 a.m. West Central Valley entered the holiday break with one win in nine games played so far this winter. The Wildcats lone victory came one week ago today, topping Southeast Warren, 67-52. Regular season competition resumes for West Central Valley’s varsity boys basketball team on Friday, January 4, traveling to Panora for a West Central Activities Conference tilt versus the Panorama Panthers.
