Now that it’s finally started to feel more like winter, Greene County Public Health reminds everyone that it’s not too late to get your flu vaccination.

Public Health Director Becky Wolf says the peak of the influenza season is December through February. She points out that getting a flu shot will help not only protect yourself but others from contracting the illness. Some of the symptoms of the flu include: severe body aches, high fever of 103 to 104-degrees fahrenheit, severe headache and body aches, light sensitivity, severe cough and vomiting for children. Wolf adds that symptoms of the common cold are similar to the flu, but are much more mild.

“It’s not of the severe symptoms that the influenza can give you where you really wish you would get run over by a truck you feel that bad. You just cannot get out of bed, you feel so awful. There’s just definite differences there.”

We’ve previously reported that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has predicted this year to be a severe flu season. There are several places where the flu shot is available.
