The search for the next Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center School District Superintendent has been narrowed down to three finalists.
The joint school boards interviewed eight semifinalists this week, and have now announced the three finalists that will be interviewed for the position on January 23rd. The finalists are Shane Christensen, principal of Indian Hills Junior High in Clive; Darren Hanna, director of elementary education for the Waterloo School District; and Dennis McClain, superintendent and elementary principal for the Clay Central-Everly School District.
Guthrie Center School Board President Wes Policky shares how the superintendent survey community members completed this fall influenced the selection process, “Community was a major item of importance based on that survey and each of these three individuals exemplified being out in their community, being engaged with the students, engaged with organizations within the school and outside the school, that really we felt were important to that individual leading our school district.”
The AC/GC school boards hope to have their new superintendent announced shortly after January 23rd. The new hire will replace retiring Superintendent Steve Smith.
