A local daycare center is increasing their security with the help of the 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County.
The Kid Zone Early Learning Center, with locations in Guthrie Center and Adair, recently received the fourth quarter grant from the group with a total of $11,100. Kid Zone is a non-profit organization that serves children aged four weeks to 12-years-old and also hosts a before-and-after school program for elementary students. With the 10 Squared Women grant Kid Zone will be installing security cameras, new doors, and a keyless entry system at both sites, and a new software system to manage the keyless entry and children enrolled. Kid Zone Director Cassie Pittman explains the motive for these upgrades, “We just want to keep moving forward and making updates and making sure all our kiddos are safe. And we want to make sure parents have a little more peace of mind because we know and understand how hard it is to leave your children to go to work all day.”
The Kid Zone Board hopes to get these security upgrades completed this winter. The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County meet quarterly to nominate local organizations and donate money for projects in the County. Since its inception over $86,000 has been given to various projects and organizations. The group hopes to increase its member size to 125 in 2019.
