A Jefferson woman faces several charges for an alleged assault.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer and a Greene County Deputy responded to the incident at 8:25am Saturday in the 600 block of South Olive Street. When officers arrived on scene, they saw the suspect throwing and breaking items in the basement of the residence. Officers separated the suspect and the victim. During the investigation, the victim told authorities that the suspect entered her residence without her permission and started assaulting her while she was asleep.

Following the interviews, the officer arrested 23-year-old Kelsy Diane Jean Reed. As the officer was taking Reed out to the patrol vehicle, she kicked the officer several times in the shines and was screaming.

Reed has been charged with a Class B Felony for first degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor for first degree harassment, serious misdemeanors for assault causing bodily injury and assault on a peace officer and simple misdemeanors for fifth degree criminal mischief, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

Reed was booked and released on her own recognizance from the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
