The last competition before the new year kept the Panorama Panthers varsity wrestling team in Guthrie County Thursday night. The Panthers hosted a nonconference quadrangular event in Panora, welcoming grapplers from Mount Ayr, Saydel, and Wayne. Panorama entered the holiday break winning two of their three duals. The Panthers tallied three pinfalls and five wins by forfeit to top Mount Ayr, 48-28. Panorama scored 48 points on in forfeits in a 60-6 victory over the Saydel Eagles. The Panthers registered points on three pinfalls, a technical fall, and one forfeit in a 48-28 loss versus Wayne. Four Panorama wrestlers registered points in all three matches they grappled in on Thursday. Sophomore Wyatt Appleseth (145) recorded one pinfall, one technical fall, and one forfeit. Senior Noah Kirtley (152) tallied two pinfall wins and one win by forfeit. Senior Garrett Fox (170) won two matches by fall and another by forfeit. Finally, senior Hunter Holmes had two wins by forfeit and another by pinfall. The Panthers open the 2019 portion of their schedule in the Crusader Invitational hosted by Coon Rapids-Bayard Community Schools.
