acgcThe ACGC basketball teams hosted the Interstate-35 Roadrunners Friday night in their inaugural West Central Activities Conference series. The Chargers didn’t take long to gain a lead in the series as both teams won in convincing fashion to close out 2018.

In the girls game, junior Kennedy Young set another career high in scoring with 14 points in the first half to lead all Chargers to the 63-30 win. Senior Jadeyn Carrick also made it back-to-back contests with 10 points for the gold and black. Ten different ACGC players scored at least two points for the second time this season. The nearly wire-to-wire victory improves their record to 6-4 (4-3).

The boys matchup was slightly more competitive, with the teams trading the lead in the first quarter. The Chargers exited the first half with a seven point advantage before outscoring the Roadrunners 27-17 in second half for a 60-43 final. Senior Noah Sargent led the Chargers in scoring for the second consecutive contest with 15 points, while junior Bryce Littler added 12 to extend his double-digit scoring streak to seven games. The boys improve to 4-5 (2-5).

This is the first time in program history that both basketball teams went undefeated in a single week. At the Christmas break, the Chargers have a combined nine wins. At this time last year, the girls were winless and the boys had already claimed their three wins for the entire season. Both squads will get a much deserved rest before resuming conference play on Friday, January 4th when they host the Woodward-Granger Hawks.
