Are you looking for things for kids to do during winter break while out of school which aren’t very expensive? The Greene County Community Center has a solution.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation is hosting their annual food drive from December 22nd through January 6th. JPRD Director Vicky Lautner says anyone can drop off a non-perishable food item and use the community center for free that day. She points out that you can use any equipment or take advantage of any of their programs during that time period, and emphasizes it’s an inexpensive way to enjoy more family togetherness during the holidays.
“We’ve got families coming into town to see other family, and a lot of people like to just come to the rec center and maybe hang out and play volleyball, or shooting hoops, maybe not necessarily working out, but some people do. We just feel this is a good way for families to have their extended families join us at the rec center and bring a food item and that way everybody benefits.”
All food items will be donated to the Greene County Action Resource Center (ARC).
