After more than a month of listeners putting their names into registration boxes at Caring Christmas Food Drive stops and participating businesses, Raccoon Valley Radio has announced the winner of the $1,000 Christmas Cash Giveaway.
Adel resident Mark McDonald is the lucky winner of the grand prize, as his name was chosen from among 260 other qualifiers for the money. Raccoon Valley Radio Program Director Chris Cohea called McDonald to let him know the good news, and the new winner said what he plans to do with the cash. Cohea said, “Well, you are $1,000 richer, just in time for Christmas!” McDonald replied, “Thank you!” Cohea followed, “Congratulations, sir! Do you have any idea what you’re going to spend the money on?” McDonald answered, “Oh, I’ve got three kids and a wife.” Cohea then inferred, “Well, so that means you’ve got $.50 leftover?” McDonald answered lightheartedly, “Yes!”
The contest began on November 16th, and listeners had the chance to become an instant qualifier by donating food or cash at any of the Caring Christmas Food Drive locations. McDonald, however, registered through the other method for qualifying, as his name was pulled from the box located at Raccoon River Rental and Sales near DeSoto, which was one of many participating businesses throughout the listening area. Make sure to listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for future giveaways and contests, and like McDonald you could be a winner.
