The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office is proud to acknowledge that there have been no car wreck fatalities in the County so far in 2018.
The year isn’t over yet, and December can mean an increase in vehicle crashes as people travel for their holiday plans and hazardous weather-related road conditions can occur. Sheriff Marty Arganbright gives a message to motorists this holiday season, “We want everybody to be safe. We’re having a good record in Guthrie County as far as accidents and we have had zero fatalities. We want to keep it that way so if people just slow down, wear their seatbelts, and keep their eye on the road, it makes it safe for them and for everyone else. And we wish everyone to have a great holiday this season.”
Wearing a seatbelt reduces the risk of moderate to serious injury by 50%, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety. When there are slick icy roads this winter Arganbright urges motorists to slow down and be sure to stop at an assured distance when approaching a stop sign.
