As the City of Stuart is nearing the completion of phase two of the Wambold Housing Addition, another housing development may be on the horizon.

At the Stuart City Council’s recent meeting, Economic Development Director Kristen Renslow discussed how Stuart Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED) purchased about 15-acres of land from All Saints Church last July located west of West Central Valley High School. SEED anticipates this development would contain 25-27 lots. City Council Member Theresa Glass mentioned her concerns over other projects the City could focus on, such as renovating existing city parks, “So I don’t feel real comfortable, I mean I realize we’re not going to commit tonight but I don’t feel real comfortable committing until we have a broad picture of how this is going to impact our ability to deal with some of the other things that need to be done in town.”

Glass said this matter as well as other citizens’ concerns should be taken into consideration at the Council’s next comprehensive planning meeting. The Council approved Renslow’s recommendation to allow City Engineer Forrest Aldrich to determine project costs and layout.

The Council’s next meeting is on January 14th.
