The final home game of the 2018 calendar year takes place tonight for the Panorama Panthers varsity basketball teams. The Ogden Bulldogs pay a visit to Guthrie County this evening for a West Central Activities Conference doubleheader versus the Panthers. Panorama won both games in the girls series last winter while each school’s boys team won on their home floor a season ago.

Friday’s 68-30 victory for the Panorama girls basketball team (6-0 overall; 5-0 WCAC) over AC/GC marked the Panther’s 28th straight victory inside the West Central Activities Conference dating back to January 2017. The Panthers, Class 2A’s No. 6 ranked squad, have won their first five conference games of this winter by an average of 26.6 points per game. The Ogden Bulldogs (5-2 overall; 2-2 WCAC) returned to the winning side of the ledger Friday at home versus the Woodward-Granger Hawks, 41-37. The Bulldogs had lost their previous two league games against AC/GC (46-41) and Van Meter (41-36) by a combined total of 10 points. Panorama head girls basketball coach Dan Druivenga told Raccoon Valley Radio Monday that the Bulldogs do have a lot of experience back from last year’s 8-15 squad. “They’re good shooters, you have to get out there on them otherwise they can drain the three,” Druivenga said, “They (also) have a couple of big girls underneath. Ogden’s going to be a handful just because of their experience.”

The Panorama boys basketball team (2-3 overall; 2-3 WCAC) returned to winning form Friday in Guthrie Center, topping the AC/GC Chargers, 62-48. The Panthers outscored the Chargers, 33-17, in the second half for their second win of the season. The Ogden Bulldogs (5-3 overall; 4-2 WCAC) looks to regain momentum in the conference after falling in overtime to the Woodward-Granger Hawks, 73-61, Friday at home. The Hawks outscored the Bulldogs 14-2 in the four-minute extra period. The West Central Activities Conference varsity doubleheader between Panorama and Ogden begins with the girls’ contest at 6 p.m. and the boys to follow from Panorama High School.
