The Dallas County Hospital Foundation Holiday Gift Basket Silent Auction is winding down to a close, as today and tomorrow are the final days to place your bids.
Those interested can take a peek at the baskets on display in the hospital’s south atrium. Foundation Manager Matt Crooks says they had a great deal of success with the holiday baskets last year, and it appears that this year will be just as lucrative. All the proceeds will go towards the Foundation’s scholarship fund, which awards money to graduating seniors at Dallas County high schools who are going into a medical field, or current college students from Dallas County who have medical-related majors and are entering their final year of school. Crooks adds, the holiday baskets are just one of several of their fundraising efforts throughout the year. “So currently we’re doing really well with setting the bar high. We have a goal of raising $8,000 over the course of the year, that then when that March/April time frame comes and applications start to come in, then we can kind of see where we’re at with how much we’ve raised and then how much can be handed out.”
The baskets were each created by Dallas County Hospital staff and Foundation Board members, and they have been on display at the Perry Public Library and La Poste, in addition to the hospital over the last several weeks.
